Barça 39-19 Elverum: Powering into the last eight

The Norwegians are giving no chance to mount a comeback and the EHF Champions League quarter finals await

Barça have won big on Monday to certify passage to the EHF Champions League quarter finals. After winning a 12-point win in the ‘away’ leg (in inverted commas because both ties were played at the Palau Blaugrana), they defeated Norwegian side Elverum by an even greater margin of 20 points to power their way into the next round of the competition, where they’ll meet either Meshkov Brest of Belarus, or HC Motor of Ukraine.

The visitors had no option to go for it and even played with a seven-man attack, although such plans were to little avail and the Catalans were already a comfortable +10 at the break, with any chance of a surprise totally discarded.

A 7-1 streak served to widen the gap even further. Diocou led the scoring with six goals in a game that Barça have dominated from start to finish, and over both legs.
