Elverum 25-37 Barça: Fans back for a treat

686 are allowed into the Palau Blaugrana to enjoy a fabulous European display

At long last the handball team was able to play in front of fans, and did do with a 37-25 victory after dominating from start to finish in the first leg of the EHF Champions League roun d of 16, extending their winning run in Europe to 15 games.

It was a beautiful sight to see the team come out at the Palau Blaugrana to the sound of real human applause, while the game continued with plenty to keep the clapping going. It was a simply exquisite performance from the blaugrana all the way through.

Already leading 19-12 at the break, Barça then went on a simply extraordinary 10-1 streak to totally leave Elverum despairing - Pérez de Vargas was stopping just about anything that came his way and the Barça goals were flowing thick and fast, and they eventually won it by 14.

On Monday at 6.45pm CEST the second leg will also be played, also at the Palau Blaugrana, with a place in the quarter finals looking a very likely prospect indeed at this stage of the proceedings.
