Barça 1-1 (1-4) Inter: Beaten on penalties

There will be no repeat of last year's Copa de España success as the futsal team crash out in the semi-final

Barça's Copa de España defence has ended after they lost to Movistar Inter in the semi-finals. The game ended 1-1 and was decided in a shootout, and the blaugrana bow out of the competition in the cruellest of styles.

But Granada was treated to a wonderful spectacle. Barça were by far the tastier looking side early on, but failed to turn their chances into goals. Inter slowly woke up to things, and found themselves ahead after 9 minutes, the goal coming courtesy of Raúl Gómez.

Barça just could not score, and their hopes took a dent when Carlos Ortiz took a knock and was unable to continue. With the injured Ferrao and Dyego also watching from the side-lines, there was a mountain to climb.

But Barça intended to climb that mountain, and hope was restored when Sergio González finally did find the net seconds before half-time. They went on to dominate the second half, but again scoring goals proved a problem, and instead were on the point of losing when Inter were awarded a late penalty. Dídac Plana heroically saved it, but he'd need to do the same in the penalty shootout

Sadly, it was not he but Inter keeper Jesús Herrero who shone, saving all but one of Barça's kicks, meaning there will be no Spanish Cup Final for Barça this year.
