Barça 7-2 Pula: Not quite enough

Barça 7-2 Pula: Not quite enough

The Catalans miss out on the Final Four of the UEFA Futsal Champions League by a single goal

Barça have missed out on a ticket to the Final Four of the UEFA Futsal Champions League despite a 7-2 win on Saturday against Pula. Pito, Catela, Dyego, Adolfo (2) and Matheus (2) all scored, but they needed to win by six goals and in the end only did it by five.

Things hardly got off to the best of starts when Pula scored the first goal after 9 minutes. Barça had managed to turn things around by the break, but the 2-1 lead was still well short of their goal.

When Barça went 3-1 up, Pula then pulled another goal back. It was utterly frustrating, but the blaugrana kept plugging away. At last the goals started coming, but with a minute left to play, Barça still need two. And Matheus got one!

But there were just nine seconds left on the clock. Barça piled forward in desperation, but the miracle didn't happen and despite the noblest of efforts, there will be no Final Four for Barça this year.
