Jimbee Cartagena 3-5 FC Barcelona: Winning end to regular season

Buena have ended the regular season, with top spot already assured, with a 5-3 win at Cartagena. The way the rest of the final day panned out, they also know that their opponent in the playoff quarter final will be ElPozo. The first leg is on Wednesday 8 June in Murcia, and the return at the Palau Blaugrana is on Saturday 11.

Should Barça win that, they’ll play the winners of Valdepeñas and Cartagena in the semi-finals, while on the half of the draw, Inter play Jaén and Palma face Ribera Navarra. Barça have the advantage that should any games end in a draw, they will always benefit as the winner will be the team that placed highest in the regular season.

Barça took Saturday’s game by storm. Ferrao, Víctor Pérez and Bernat Povill already had them leading 3-0 after just six minutes.

Everyone was given a game, even young goalkeeper Àlex Lluch, but although an Ortiz goal eventually extended the lead to 4-1, the home side then battled back to 4-3 and it wasn’t until Povill scored in the very last minute that the Catalans were able secure what turned out to be a much harder victory than the first few minutes had suggested.
