Off to Plzen in the Elite Round

The draw for the Elite Round of the UEFA Futsal Champions League was made in Nyon on Wednesday and it looks like this, with just the group winners progressing to the Final Four. Barça’s group will be hosted by SK Plzen in the Czech Republic.

Elite Round Groups

Group A: Kairat (KAZ), ACCS (FRA), Viten Orsha (BLR) and Tyumen (RUS, host).

Group B: Sporting CP (POR, host), Sinara Ekaterinburg (RUS), Olmissum (CRO) and Hovocubo (NED).

Group C: Barça, SK Plzen (CZE, host), Halle-Gooik (BEL) and Dobovec (SVN)

Group D: Benfica (POR, host), Levante (ESP), Haladás (HUN) and Uragan (UKR)

Jordi Torras, prudent

Barça’s coordinator of sport Jordi Torras commented on BarçaTV. “We have managed to avoid the theoretically stronger, but we’ll have to be careful because European futsal has levelled out a lot in recent years. Plzen have shown their potential by drawing with Kairat and beating Tyumen in the last Main Round.”

“It would be a lie to claim we are not the favourites, but we need to prove that on court. We’ll only get to the Final Four if we respect all our opponents and keep working with keenness and humility as we have done until now. The most important thing is that the team is improving and we have to work to keep that so.”
