Double penalty in the final second prevents a vital win in Andalusia
Barça are returning from Jaen with on point following a 2-2 draw. It’s painful not so much because of the result as it is for the way in which it happened. Because after bouncing back after going down to Antonio’s opener, thanks to two goals from Esquerdinha, and after holding on brilliantly for the rest of the second half, a double penalty converted by Carlitos in the very last second meant those efforts were all in vain.
The point still keeps Barça in the chase. They are now fifth in the regular season table with 56 points and five points adrift of the four leaders, who are all matched on 61 points, but Barça still have one game in hand.
