The Champions League returned the Palau Blaugrana after an absence of months to witness Barça's victory over ACCS Asnières Villeneuve 92 to seal a place in the last eight of this season's competition. The French club were looking to make it to the quarter finals at their very first attempt and they took the lead through Edu in the first half. However, goals from Ferrao and Ximbinha saw the blaugranes take comeback victory to continue their European aspirations.
The visitors began confidently and Barça were limited to isolated counter attacks in the opening minutes. Esquerdinha went close for the home side before ACCS took a surprise lead with a backheel from Edu after 9 minutes.
Falling behind seemed to allow Barça to settle and just before the break the blaugranes were level. Dyego's pass was picked up by Ferrao and his finish into the top corner made it 1-1 at half time.
In the second half both teams chased the winner but it was until 5 minutes before the end that Ximbinha found the net to put Barça ahead. The French side sacrificed their keeper looking for an equaliser to take the game into extra time but Barça keeper Dídac held firm to help his side into the last eight of the Champions League.
