Barça 9-2 Prishtina: A bittersweet victory

Barça go through to the Last 16 of the Champions League, but Sergio Lozano suffers an injury in the game

Barça's futsal team qualified for the Last 16 of the Champions League in their first appearance in the competition, beating Prishtina 9-2 at home on Friday night. The tremendous display was only marred by an injury to Sergio Lozano.

Esquerdinha scored a hat trick and Bernat Povill a brace, with Dyego, Daniel, Joselito and Matheus also scoring to help the team progress to the next stage of the competition.

A goal-fest at the Palau. 

After taking their time to hit their stride, Andreu Plaza's team found their way through in an emphatic first half display.

Dyego opened the scoring with an unstoppable shot, followed by a period of Barça dominance. Esquerdinha, Daniel, Joselito and Matheus all contributed to make it 5-1 at half time.

In the 16th minute, Sergio Lozano was taken off with an injury to his right knee. He will undergo an MRI scan on Monday to assess his condition.


Second half maintenance

Although worried about their captain, Barça continued to to look for goals in the second period. Esquerdinha completed his hat trick, and Povill found the net for a second time, whilst there was an opportunity to give a debut to Óscar de la Faya in the Champions League before the final whilstle. .

After their 9-2 win, Barça progress to the next round of the continental competition. The draw takes place next Thursday.
