The Spanish national women's football team has been recognised as the Best Team at the 2023 Laureus Awards ceremony. The team that lifted the trophy for the first time in the tournament hosted by Australia and New Zealand, beating England in the final had as many as nine different FC Barcelona players among their number (Cata Coll, Laia Codina, Irene Paredes, Ona Batlle, Aitana Bonmatí, Salma Paralluelo, Alexia Putellas, Maria Pérez and Mariona Caldentey).

They overcame stiff competition from fellow nominees the European Ryder Cup golfers, the German basketball team, Champions League winners Manchester City, Formula One's Oracle Red Bull Racing and the Rugby World Cup winners, the Springboks of South Africa.

On a double night of celebrations, Aitana Bonmatí was also the winner of the Sportswoman of the Year Award.
