UWCL PREVIEW | FC Barcelona v Bayern Munich

The Spotify Camp Nou is once again the venue for a UEFA Women's Champions League fixture, with first place in the group st stake

Last season's double world record breaking games against Real Madrid and Wolfsburg are still fresh in the memory, and on Thursday Barça go back to Spotify Camp Nou for another UEFA Women's Champions League game. The visitors this time are the mighty Bayern Munich, with both sides coming into this one the back of wins against Rosengård and Benfica.

That said, the Bavarians have won their two games in more discrete fashion than the Catalans, with a 5-3 goal difference from both results, while Barça smashed no fewer than 12 goals past the Swedes and Portuguese.

The top two teams progress from the group, but finishing top will theoretically ensure a more comfortable route in the knockout stages, and in any case, this game is the ideal chance for the Barça women to test themselves against one of the strongest sides in the continent.

The side coached by Jonatan Giráldez have been storming their season so far. In eleven competitive fixtures they have so many wins, topping the Spanish championships and on fine course in Europe.

As usual, the Bundesliga is a tight race between Bayern and Wolfsburg.

Barça will be out to avenge a preseason defeat to Bayern in Toulouse. Other than that, the only time these sides have met before was in the Champions League semi-finals in 2018/19, when Barça won both legs 1-0 to earn passage to the team's first ever appearance in the final in Budapest.

For this one, Barça are missing all of Aitana, Bronce and Emma.

After this game, the teams will be meeting again in the reverse fixture, which is also being played on a big stage at the Allianz Arena.
