Gala night at Palau de la Música for premiere of 'Matchday-Queens of the Pitch'
The Barça family will be gathering this Friday night at such a special venue as the Palau de la Música Catalana for the preview screening of Matchday-Queens of the Pitch, the new documentary about the Barça women’s team produced by Barça Studios about the road to the historic treble of 2020/21.
The red carpet occasion featured the stars of the show along with various representatives of the FC Barcelona on different levels, led by the president Joan Laporta and, of course, the women's team themselves.
The board was represented by such figures as first vice-president, Rafael Yuste, vice-president Elena Fort, vice-presidents Eduard Romeu and Juli Guiu, board members Junta Xavier Barbany, Miquel Camps, Josep Ignasi Macià, and the director responsible for women's football, Xavier Puig. Also attending were Anna Caula, general secretary for sport and physical activity and Georgina Oliva, general secretary of the ministry for equality and feminism.

Before the screening of the sixth and final episode in the series, Alexia Putellas, Marta Torrejón, Sandra Paños and Patri Guijarro appeared in a panel discussion, where they described everything that makes their team so unique, the work that went into each and every one of their achievements, including the recent Super Cup victory, qualification for the quarter finals of the Women Champions League and their runaway lead in the league, which they could clinch mathematically in the forthcoming weeks.
The audience then got to enjoy An Eternal Team, the final episode of the series that focuses on the Champions League final at the Gamla Ullevi in Gothenburg, where Barça were crowned champions of Europe following a brilliant 4-0 defeat of Chelsea.
The event ended with words from Joan Laporta, who said: "This event recognises the FC Barcelona women’s team, It’s a tribute to last season, which was historic. I want to thank all the players and coaches for letting us all see from close up what you lived through in that historic season. And you achieved it because of your fighting spirit and commitment to football. I want to thank you for the dedication that made it possible, people who dignify FC Barcelona with all of its values.”
“It is wonderful that two institutions that are so bonded to the country, namely Barça and the Palau de la Música, have come together. I want to thank the Palau for opening its doors to us, and we have signed a collaboration and sponsorship agreement that will bring us even closer together.”

Matchday-Queens of the Pitch was produced by Barça Studios, which centralises audiovisual creation, production and marketing at FC Barcelona. Each of the six episodes of this series is half an hour long and presents a fly-on-the-wall image of the season, focusing on all the ups and down, including moments and fear and doubt. The exclusive images captured everything that went on with the players and staff during training, journeys and being together.
But it’s not just about football. It is also about teamwork, sacrifice and all the values that define group of women who live and work as a family and who could never have achieved what they did without each other’s mutual support.
