Alexia Putellas' return to the squad after winning the Ballon D'Or simply had to be special. The squad had a surprise waiting for her on Thursday morning.
The captain attended the usual video session to analyse the opponent, with just two days to go to the game on Saturday against Athletic Club in Estadi Johan Cruyff. However, this time she was the last player to arrive for once and found the entire squad waiting for her with bottles of cava and confetti.
The squad then watched a video featuring a collection of iconic images of Alexia and the team rather than their upcoming opponents. The other three captains then presented her with commemorative picture and our surprised and happy number 11, thanked everyone with a signature Barça message: “Let's go and win more”.
