Gamper Trophy, LaLiga and Manchester City on the menu for August

Barça to play five matches this month, with four at the Spotify Camp Nou

August is here and FC Barcelona are nearing the end of preseason and the return of competitive matches. The first team have five games to play this month, three of which are in LaLiga.

The first game in August is the Joan Gamper Trophy on Sunday 7 August at 8pm CEST. This is the annual party to celebrate all things FC Barcelona, during which the squad for the new season will be presented to all the fans in Spotify Camp Nou, before a match between Xavi Hernández' squad and the Mexican side, Pumas UNAM, which include former Barça player Dani Alves in their squad.

After the first match has brought the fans and new squad together, the second game sees the return of LaLiga. Barça start the new Spanish top flight season at the Spotify Camp Nou with Rayo Vallecano visiting from Madrid - kick off at 9pm on Saturday 13 August.

The third fixture on Sunday 21 August will be the team's first away game. Xavi and the squad will travel to San Sebastián and the Reale Arena for the league game against Real Sociedad, kick off at 10pm CEST.

Three days later will see the Pep Guardiola coached English champions Manchester City visit the Spotify Camp Nou on Wednesday 24 August. The sides will play a charity game in order to raise funds for research into ALS (amiotrophic lateral sclerosis) in an event promoted by Juan Carlos Unzué. Everyone can collaborate with this great initiative by making a donation or buying tickets for the game that kicks off at 9pm CEST.

The last game of the month will be the third LaLiga fixture of the season and back at the Spotify Camp Nou. Barça host the recently promoted Real Valladolid on Sunday 28 August, kick off at 7.30pm CEST.
