Ferran Torres reunited with old friends

Ferran Torres reunited with old friends

FC Barcelona's latest recruit is going to be teaming up with a number of familiar faces from playing for club or country in the past

Barça’s brand new signing for 2022, Ferran Torres, is just 21 years old and will be yet another hugely promising youngster in Xavi Hernández’s squad.

Having already been coached by two great former players and managers for FC Barcelona, Pep Guardiola at Manchester City and Luis Enrique for Spain, he is a player who not already has a very good idea of the way Barça play, but who has also played with several of his new team-mates before.

Valencia

It was at Valencia where Ferran grew up as a player, making his debut in 2017. He spent two seasons in the same squad as goalkeeper Neto, before the Brazilian left for Barça in 2019.

Manchester City

He played in the same team as Eric Garcia last season, as well as the now retired Sergio Agüero. He and Eric have also played together at three different European Championships, not just the full international one earlier this year, but also the U17 (2017) and U19 (2019) tournaments.

Spain

But it’s not just Eric who has played together with Ferran for Spain. He also already knows what it’s like to be in the same team as Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Pedri at the European Championship, as well as Ansu Fati in other games, and Gavi and Sergi Roberto in the Final Four of the UEFA Nations League.

Ferran has also played at youth level with Arnau Tenas, the Barça B goalkeeper, as well as youngsters Álvaro Sanz, Jandro Orellana and Iñaki Peña.
