Benfica U19 4-0 Barça U19A: Heavy defeat in Lisbon

The blaugranes play most of the second half with 10 men and go down to defeat on Match Day 2 of the UEFA Youth League

The FC Barcelona U19A side suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat in Lisbon against Benfica on Match Day 2 of the group stage of the UEFA Youth League. A red card for goalkeeper Astralaga put the blaugranes on the ropes and they never recovered from having to play most of the second half with just 10 men.

Benfica take the lead

The home side began the first half strongly and Astralaga made several important saves for Barça to keep the scoreline goalless. There were chances for Luzzi and Ilias for the visitors but it was Benfica who finally took the lead on the stroke of half time when João Resende reacted quickest in the box to hand the Portuguese side a half time lead.

Sending off

After the break the blaugranes got off to the worst possible start to the second half when N'dour added a second for Benfica just four minutes after the restart. On 53 minutes the dismissal of keeper Astralaga sealed Barça's fate.

Just minutes after the red card, Benfica scored a third with Resende getting his second and Martim Neto rounded off the win for the home side with a goal on 67 minutes to hand Barça their first defeat of the season.
