Before the start of the match, a minute's silence was observed in memory of Josep Mussons, who was manager of FC Barcelona (1978-2000) and had a very close relationship with Barça's youth football teams.
Konrad opens the scoring
The first few minutes of the match were cagey and the pressure from both sides came and went without a change in the score. After 15 minutes, however, Konrad took advantage of Collado's ball recovery to put the hosts ahead.
Villarreal B responded with a shot from Cabrera, but Carevic was equal to the chance and the rest of the half passed without too much goalmouth action.
Collado made it 2-0 with a great direct free-kick after 57 minutes, before Villarreal quickly reduced the deficit through Arana. Barça B then took the game to the visitors and the pressure eventually paid off when Peque was fouled inside the area. Rei Manaj made no mistake from the spot to give the Catalans some breathing space.
Just six minutes later, Villarreal B grabbed a second through Millán to make it an uncomfortable final 15 minutes. To their credit, however, Garcia Pimienta's side held on for an important victory which leaves them in second place, in the play-off places for promotion to Second Division A.
