Sergi Barjuan, sporting director of Barça Academy
His new functions at the Barça Academy will include work to support the expansion of the project
Former FC Barcelona player and senior team manager Sergi Barjuan has been appointed as the new worldwide sporting director of the Barça Academy project. Barjuan, who was part of the ‘Dream Team’ and coach of Barça B in the 2021/22, as well serving as interim first team coach for three games, started familiarising himself with the sporting aspects of Barça Academy a few months ago..
His new functions at the Barça Academy will include work to support the expansion of the project and to transfer the methodology and coaching methods to staff working at the different schools around the world, and also to support the promotion of the talent that gets scouted around the world. In fact, Sergi played an active role in the Barça Academy Training Camp held in early February at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, which brought together around fifty young athletes from the different academies.
Born in Franqueses del Vallès, recently made a trip to the different academies in the United States, having already attended the Barça Academy Cup Las Américas that was held last December at Cap Cana (Dominican Republic), where he also got to know more about the different US programmes. He has also recently returned from visits to the Barça Academies in Warsaw (Poland) and the Dominican Republic.
