FC Barcelona and the Barça Foundation, in coherence with the idiosyncrasies of being ‘More than a Club’, are continuing to work to help tackle the coronavirus and provide support to at-risk children through different programs around the world. The latest of these is in association with Thom Browne, the prestigious US clothing firm, which is launching a new capsule collection bearing the club’s image to raise funds to be invested in the Foundation’s projects.

This capsule, the term used for fashion lines that encapsulate a specific concept or idea, will be available from October 21 and comes in response to both entities’ wish to help to make society better, while showcasing their shared values, among others, of humility, effort, ambition, respect and teamwork. The collection includes different items inspired by visual elements associated with the club’s image.

The profits from sales will be used to adapt the Barça Foundation’s programs to the new needs arising from the Covid-19 crisis. One such project is being run by the Barça Foundation in New York City with the support of Thom Browne, as part of the Diversity Program.

Thom Browne has been a partner of the Barça Foundation since the 2018-19 season, when it also began to support the Barça program in New York, which applies the FutbolNet methodology to use sport, play and physical activity as a means for social integration and to better the lives of young people living in vulnerable contexts. Thom Browne is also a Global Partner of FC Barcelona in the Formal Wear category and dresses the first team off the field, for instance on its away trips.

This is the latest of a series of initiatives set up by the Barça Foundation to help deal with the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. These actions have included the provision of healthcare material, the channelling of financial aid, awareness-raising with regards to prevention and emotional support for children.

Statement by Jordi Cardoner, first vice-president of FC Barcelona and the Barça Foundation

“We are proud to set up a project like this together with Thom Browne, a leading firm in the fashion world and with which we share the goal of having a positive impact on society. At the Barça Foundation we work hard every day to offer new chances and improve the lives of boys and girls in vulnerable contexts and programs like this help us to continue doing this work. And these projects have taken on new meaning in the current context of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has in so many cases increased the difficulties that these young people have to deal with as well as the capacity of organisations to provide a response.”

Statement by Thom Browne, founder and design director of Thom Browne

I have admired FC Barcelona for quite some time. The club's talent, strength and confidence are legendary. Our partnership has evolved in various ways but has always focused on the club's values of loyalty, teamwork and humility. Through our partnership, we are able to bring awareness to the incredible work of the Barca Foundation and empower youth-focused programming. Bringing together a new generation to believe in themselves and their contemporaries, on and off the field. “
