FC Barcelona strengthens its commitment to eSports with a Rocket League team

Barça, which already has a PES team, will compete in the most important events in the discipline

FC Barcelona takes another step forward in eSports with the creation of a Rocket League team, a video game that combines the best of football and motorsports. Barça will compete in the most important competitons such as the Rocket League Championship Series and international events such as DreamHack, which bring together the best teams worldwide.

The Barça roster will include the Spaniard Adrián "Bymateos" Mateos and the British players David "Deevo" William and Daniel "Bluey" Brian, both winners of the most recent Rocket League Championship Series. Furthermore, the Frenchman Yanis "Alpha54" Champenois, a promising young player who has already made a name for himself in the competitive Rocket League scene, will also be part of the squad.

From the United Kingdom,  Robert "Roken" Kendall will be managing Barça team with a style of game based on combination and group work, a way of playing closely linked to the values of FC Barcelona. "Being part of FC Barcelona is the greatest thing that any athlete can achieve, so I am deeply honoured to lead this team," says the coach. In his view, "the fact that FC Barcelona is joining the Rocket League is a success for both the club and the community."

This new FC Barcelona squad joins the existing Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) squad, a game developed by Konami, one of the Club's official sponsors. The PES team contains the Spanish players Alex Alguacil and Pau Lara and they lead the eFootball.pro competition and have qualified for the finals.
