Signed from Sevilla FC, Rakitic was already a major star, renowned for his reading of the game, versatility and utter dedication to the cause. He more than lived up to expectations, being one of the finest blaugrana players of his era.
His standout performance was in the Champions League Final of 2015 in Barlin, scoring the first of what would be a 3-1 win, and a fantastic goal it was too.
"I can't describe this moment" he said afterwards, I wanted to hug the whole stadium and not just the three players next to me at the time. I wanted to open my arms and hug everyone. It gave me goosebumps".
In the 2020/21 season he returned to Sevilla FC.
