Barça 81-80 Fenerbahce Beko: Last gasp win at the Palau
The blaugranes take a win over the top team in the Euroleague in a nail biting encounter at the Palau Blaugrana
A hard fought win in the Palau Blaugrana for Saras Jasikevicius' team in the Euroleague as Barça overcame Fenerbahce Beko 81-80 to move within one win of the Turkish side who still top the table.
The first quarter saw the two side exchange baskets before a series of three pointers from Laprovittola handed the blaugranes a 21-19 lead at the end of the first period. Both defences got on top in the second quarter but Laprovittola kept hammering home from the three point line to ensure a 39-36 lead for the home side at half time.
Barça take the initiative
The blaugranes exploded into action in the third quarter and at one point they held a 16 point lead at 60-44. The Turkish side fought back to end the quarter 13 points down at 62-49.
Despite their lead, the game was not over for Barça with Fenerbahce launching an impressive comeback to bring the game to within two points at 78-76 in the final quarter. Nevertheless, a three pointer from Kalinic gave the blaugranes a five point lead with just seconds remaining and despite a late flurry from the visitors, Barça closed out a 81-80 win.
