Barça 89-72 Joventut de Badalona: Blaugranes strike first

Sarunas Jasikevicius' team put in an impressive performance in the opening game of their semi final play off

The blaugranes strike first in their semi-final league play off against Joventut with an 89-72 victory at the Palau Blaugrana. An excellent third quarter performance formed the basis of the win with Sanli scoring 16 points. The teams meet in game two on Sunday at 12.30pm CEST, also at the Palau.

Joventut, nicknamed 'La Penya', managed to keep pace with the blaugranes in the first quarter as Barça ended it just a one point ahead at 12-11. However, in the second period Saras' team pressed the accelerator and five three pointers helped turned the game in the home side's favour at 40-31 at half time. 

La Penya tried to claw back ground with Parra nailing two three pointers at the start of the second half. However, two three pointers from Mirotic and another from Sanli put some distance between the blaugranes and their opponents. 

The third quarter ended with Barça 69-48 ahead and in the fourth quarter the home side were able to consolidate their advantage to close out a 89-72 win.
