Saras Jasikevicius' team take the lead in the tie with a hard fought win at the Palau

Begin with a win. Barça kicked off their quarter final league play-off against Gran Canaria with a 93-82 victory at the Palau Blaugrana. Davies and Exum were the star men as the blaugranes take the lead in the tie. 

After an opening period where there was not much between the teams, Calathes, Mirotic and Exum started to exert their influence to give the home side a 24-17 lead at the end of the first quarter. 

 

The visitors fight back 

In the second period the team from the Canary Islands came back into the game and cut the blaugranes' lead from 14 points to just four. Nevertheless, Saras' side rallied and at half time they went in 48-39 ahead. 

After the break the visitors once again showed that the game was not over and going into the final quarter Barça's lead was cut to just three at 67-64. However, Barça maintained their composure and pushed ahead to take a 87-75 lead with just a few minutes remaining. Saras' team were able to close out the win at 93-82 to take a 1-0 lead in the tie with the second game to come in Gran Canaria on Sunday at 9pm CEST.
