Barça Lassa have won the basketball Clásico at Real Madrid (76-82) in a game that they dominated from start to finish. Heurtel led the team’s scoring with 15 points as Barça go 20-4 in the regular season, two wins more than second placed Madrid.
Ruthless attacking and solid defence saw the Catalans fly into the lead at 3-13, but Real Madrid eventually found their own game and the first period ended all square on 17-17.
A 3/3 streak of 3-pointers spearheaded Barça back into the lead, but Madrid again mustered a response, although another Kuric three on the buzzer meant the blaugrana were up by five at the interval (40-45).
The visitors continued to dominate after the restart, with Tomic slam-dunk getting the lead back into double figures. Once again the all-whites picked their back into contention, but going in to the final period, the 57-62 scoreline was still very favourable to the league leader’s interests.
Every time Madrid looked like they might be back in it, Barça powered ahead again. A 0-8 streak put ten points between the sides again, and this time the lead was definitive.
It’s always nice to win a Clásico, while the ACB table makes for some very pleasant reading material right now.
