Club captain Andrés Iniesta paid tribute to FC Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff following the news of his death on Thursday 24 March.

Iniesta, who was at the International FCBEscola Tournament at the time when the news broke, said that “it is a sad day for Barça and for the world of football”.

The Spanish international spoke of Cruyff’s influence on the history of the sport, and that his death “touches everyone, especially his friends and family”.

Iniesta concluded by saying that he will forever treasure what the Dutchman had done for the club: "I will always remember the influence that he had on the club and what he transmitted. He was key to Barça’s success".
