Following on from the experience of taking a training session out of the city, something that proved very successful a couple of seasons ago in Palafrugell and Reus, the first team squad were again well received by their fans when they went to Girona for an open training session on Monday evening that was held in a great party atmosphere.
The squad were greeted by thousands of fans on their arrival at the Montilivi Stadium and soon afterwards, Club captain Carles Puyol handed over a first team shirt signed by the squad to the Girona President to be used to raise funds for the victims of the recent forest fires in the province.
The stadium was full of Barça colours as 7,350 mainly young fans cheered on their heroes –particularly Leo Messi. The players gave a farewell wave of thanks to the supporters at the end of the session and the fans repaid their gesture with a roaring ovation, with hundreds of them then waiting to cheer off the team bus as it made its way back to Barcelona.
