Leo Messi made yet more history six months and one day ago on March 20, 2012, when he scored a hat-trick against Granada in their last visit to the Camp Nou (5-3). And it wasn’t any old hat-trick. When it comes to Messi, almost everything is out of the ordinary, and those three goals equalled and surpassed César Rodríguez’s all-time record of 232 goals in an FC Barcelona shirt.
From 234 to 263
That day, Messi raised his personal tally from 231 to 234 goals, and received a deserved standing ovation from the Camp Nou faithful. The video scoreboard showed a photo-montage of goals scored by him and César, the legendary striker of the 1940s. Since that historic day, Messi has added another 29 goals, 19 in what remained of last season, and 10 in the current one. How many more goals will the Argentinian end up scoring for the first team?
