Marc ter Stegen, foreigner with fifth most appearances for FC Barcelona

The game at El Sadar moves the German keeper ahead of Phillip Cocu in the list of non-Spaniards that have played for the team

Marc ter Stegen has made the FC Barcelona goal his own. The game with Osasuna has taken his overall tally up to 298 appearances, which moves him ahead of Phillip Cocu (297) and thus into fifth place in the list of foreigners with the most games for the team, now only surpassed by Leo Messi (778), Dani Alves (391), Javier Mascherano (334) and Iván Rakitic (310).

Legendary top ten

Dani Alves is currently second in the lost and when he starts playing again in January he’ll be able to extend his record, although it’s extremely unlikely that he’ll get anywhere near the leader, Leo Mess.

After Cocu, the top ten is completed by Luis Suárez (283) and Ronald Koeman (283) in joint seventh, and then Patrick Kluivert (257) and Ladislao Kubala (256).

Fifth for keepers

Ter Stegen is currently fifth in the list of goalkeepers with the most appearances, topped only by Víctor Valdés (535), Andoni Zubizarreta (410), Antoni Ramallets (387) and Salvador Sadurní (332).

He very much has Sadurní, who was at the club from 1960–1976, in his sights, and if all goes well, the German should be moving up to fourth in the list some time in 2022.
