10 years since Barça won La Liga at Levante

The culers return to the Ciutat de Valencia stadium where a decade ago they secured the league title

Barça travel to Levante where on Tuesday at 10.00pm CEST they face the home side in the Ciutat de Valencia stadium on a date that will be familiar to many blaugrana fans: FC Barcelona, on 11 May 2011, claimed the league title away at Levante.

A decade ago on Barça are in search of a victory that would allow them to keep their hopes alive in the race for the 2021 La Liga title. Currently, the blaugranes are third in the table, two points behind leaders Atlético Madrid with only three games remaining.

HOW THE LEAGUE TABLE LOOKS

The 2011 victory was the third La Liga title in a row for Pep Guardiola's team and was clinched in the 36th game of the season in Valencia away at Levante.

Messi, Busquets and Piqué were there

The three captains of the first team Leo Messi, Sergio Busquets and Gerard Piqué all featured that day in the Ciutat de Valencia stadium in an XI that looked like this: Valdés, Alves, Mascherano, Piqué, Abidal, Busquets, Xavi, Keita, Villa, Messi and Afellay, with Fontàs and Pedro coming on in the second half.

Just as they had done six years previously in 2005, the blaugranes clinched the title against Levante with a 1-1 draw. Keita put Barça ahead with a header in the first half before Caicedo equalised for the home side. The point was enough to hand Barça the La Liga title.
