Victor Claver to play with FC Barcelona Lassa for three seasons

The 27-year-old forward is the team's first signing under new head coach Georgios Bartzokas

Víctor Claver, who until now played for Lokomotiv Kuban, will play for FC Barcelona Lassa for the next three seasons after FC Barcelona made an agreement with Valencia Basket — which held the player's rights — to bring Claver to the Club. Claver will undergo a physical in the coming days.

Claver is a 27-year-old forward who rose to stardom with Valencia and who took his talents to the NBA before spending last season with Lokomotiv Kuban in Russia.

Claver spent six seasons with Pamesa Valencia before a three-year stint with the Portland Trailblazers, the team which made him a first-round pick (22nd overall) in the 2009 NBA Draft.

While at Valencia, Claver was picked for the Spanish national team, where he won the European Championships in 2009, 2011, and 2015, as well as a silver medal in the 2012 summer Olympics in London. He’ll be with Spain for the Rio Olympics this August.

Claver played in 80 regular season games during his three seasons with the Trailblazers (2012–2015), averaging 13.4 minutes and 3.2 points per game.

He came back to Europe in March of 2015 to play for Khimkie and, at the end of the season, joined Lokomotiv Kuban, where he played under Barça’s current head coach Georgios Bartzokas.

The duo squared off against Barça Lassa in the Euroleague quarter-finals last season, with Claver scoring 17 points in Game Four.
