The presentation of Stranovsky as an FC Barcelona player will take place next Tuesday, June 19th, at noon at the Ricard Maxenchs press room. The event will be broadcast on Barça TV.
Martin Stranovsky will be accompanied by the director responsible for the handball team, Eduard Coll, and FC Barcelona Intersport secretary general, Enric Masip.
The Slovak Martin Stranovsky will wear the FC Barcelona kit for the next three seasons. The former Ademar León player will be a FCB player through the 2014/15 season.
A Slovakian in León
Martin Stranovsky was born in Nove Zamky (Slovakia) on September 12, 1985. the wide left attacker is 187 cm tall and weighs 85 Kg. He started playing handball in his hometown and he managed to get to Nove Zamky’s first team at the age of 17.
After three years of playing for Nove Zamky, in 2005 he joined Ademar León. Stranovsky filled the position left by ‘Juanín’ García, who joined FC Barcelona.
The player was a key element in the tactical plans of León, like Manolo Cadenas, Jordi Ribera and Isidoro Martínez. Stranovsky has played for seven seasons as León’s left-wing attacker.
Efficiency, intensity and goals
During the seven seasons at León, Stranovsky has showed off his qualities as a player. He’s fast, he’s lethal on the counter and his shot from the flank in excellent.
He’s an intense and efficient player on offence. During his time at Ademar, he scored 863 goals in the Liga Asobal. In the 2011/12 season he scored 144 goals, making him the highest scorer of the León side, fifth highest in the Liga.
Stranovsky also holds the records for scoring the most goals in a single match in the 2011/12 Asobal season (12 goals against Puerto Sagunto).
