The Navarre-born right back will join his new team after the London Olympic Games

The Navarre-born right back Eduardo Gurbindo has signed a two-year contract with FC Barcelona Intersport. The ex-BM Valladolid player will defend the Azulgrana colours through the 2013/14 season.

Pamplona, Torrevieja, Valladolid and Barcelona

Gurbindo, born in Pamplona on November 8, 1987, is a 194-cm tall right back that weighs 84 Kg. He started his handball career with the Pamplona-based side SDC San Antonio in 2003.

After defending the San Antonio strip for five years, he joined BM Torrevieja in 2007. Two seasons later, in 2009, he signed with BM Valladolid.

Despite winning a Liga and Super Cup title in Pamplona, he made a name for himself in Spanish handball during his time at Valladolid.

Medal winner and Olympian

Gurbindo’s personal trophy cabinet, besides the titles he won with San Antonio, features a bronze medal won with Spain in the 2011 World Cup in Sweden.

Gurbindo has also been named to Spain’s 15-player London Olympic Team.

The right back will start training with the Azulgranas on August 20.
