Barça Alusport made it eight wins in nine games this Saturday against one of their direct rivals for top spot, ElPozo Murcia. The visitors took the lead but Barça hit back with three goals in quick succession from Ari, Igor, Lozano and Lin. ElPozo pressed hard in the second half and had the home fans biting their nails towards the end when Álex made it 4-3. The win opens up a six-point gap over direct rivals ElPozo.
Whirlwind start
Matches between Barça and ElPozo are always special. And this one was no exception, as the 3,690 fans in the Palau who witnessed this electrifying spectacle will testify. The Murcia-based outfit immediately took control of the ball and created danger. Bebe put them 0-1 up in the 5th minute. Barça had been on the back foot until then but the goal stung them into action.
A minute later, Ari Santos equalised and Igor followed up with a superb shot from nine metres to make it 2-1. Lozano added a third from a direct free kick. The match settled down as Barça controlled the pace of the game with Sedano in excellent form. At halftime, Barça led 3-1.
Second half control
After the break, Barça kept it safe and simple and ElPozo gradually pressed forward. Their efforts paid off when Miguelín took advantage of a defensive slip-up to reduce the gap to 3-2 with ten minutes left to go.
Once again Barça were goaded into a reaction and Lin broke through the visiting defence to restore Barça’s two-goal advantage.
A tactical switch by Duda in the final five minutes led to a goal and a number of other chances for ElPozo. In the end, one goal wasn’t enough and the match finished 4-3 for Barça Alusport, who maintain their authoritative position at the top of the table.
