Futsal returned to the Palau Blaugrana tonight after a two-month hiatus without a single match being played in the Blaugrana arena – the last match was on October 3 against Burela. Barça Alusport demolished Inter Movistar thanks to goals from Saad, Lozano and Ari Santos. The result allows the Blaugrana to remain at the top of the Liga and open up a small gap between them and the Madrid-based team, who came into the match level on points with the home team.
Barça Alusport netted before the one-minute mark. It only took Saad Assis 44 seconds to find enough space to unleash a powerful left-footed shot that was unstoppable for Juanjo. Marc Carmona’s men came out onto the court eager to control the game, and that’s just what they did. With the 1-0 in favour, the Blaugrana continued hunting for more goals. Juanjo did well to save a counter led by Wilde. Minutes later Álvaro completed one of the best plays of the game when he rounded the Inter keeper, but Wilde was unable to connect with the forward’s final pass.
The teams went to the break with 1-0 on the scoreboard.
Barça battle to hold the lead
Just like in the first half, Barça came very close to doubling their lead. However, Álvaro’s shot sailed just wide of Juanjo’s goal. The Blaugrana were putting in an intense second half. Inter, however, didn’t shy away from the challenge and they soon wrestled control of the match away from the home team thanks to superb performances from Rafael, Matamoros and Eka. The scoreboard didn’t move from 1-0.
Marc Carmona’s men, seeing that the match was close to slipping away, started to push back. Lozano, on 32 minutes, fired a missile of a shot that Juanjo was unable to save to make it 2-0.
Two goals down and with time dwindling, Inter were forced to pull their keeper in favour of an extra field player. The Madrid-based side dominated the match in the final five minutes, but the Blaugrana, who were solid on defence, scored the match-winner thanks to a strike from Ari Santos. The buzzer singled the end of the match and Barça Alusport went to the dressing room with a 3-0 victory.
