The midfielder explained that the result "is a bit of a shame because we created chances to win the match"

Busquets and Messi pass anti-doping tests
The players Sergio Busquets and Leo Messi passed an anti-doping test after the match. The first team will train on Wednesday at 18.00, at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
Xavi Hernández wore the captain armband for FC Barcelona this evening as he led his team-mates against Milan at the San Siro. After the match he lamented the result: “It’s a shame because we created the chances to win the game.” However, the midfielder said that the San Siro “is a difficult stadium to play in. We wanted the three points but it wasn’t meant to be.”
The Catalan admitted that “we were lacking in front of goal” but that his team controlled the match: “With the exception of the first 15 minutes, when we conceded a goal, we dominated and we created chances to score.” Xavi also said that “we saw a good Barça today” and that “the team looked good.”
FC Barcelona’s next match is the Clásico against Real Madrid on Saturday (18.00, GolT and Canal+ Liga). When asked about the team’s next showdown, Xavi said, “we’re in good shape coming into the Clásico, we’re playing well.”
Here are the statements made by Barça’s players after the match:
“I think we worked hard tonight. Milan played a very defensive game, but because of how we played and the chances we created, I think we deserved a bit more.”
“Only the team that run risks win and we always play to win. There are teams that don’t give you any space but our identity lies in attacking.”
“We’re pleased. We got a point, and that’s what this is about. Hopefully we can secure our qualification as soon as possible.”
(On the goal scored by Milan) “I think it’s my fault. Another error, and I’ve already committed a couple and it hurts. I wanted to clear the ball but it bounced too high. In a match like this one you can’t commit these kind of errors.”
“I never give excuses and unfortunately the team had to suffer. The result is what it is and it hurts. If we had won, the team wouldn’t have suffered.”
“We’re leaving with a good feeling. I think in the end we lost a bit of perspective, we came to the San Siro and we though we were going to win 0-3 or 0-4.”
“Perhaps after winning so much over the years, not winning in the San Siro seems like a bad result.”
“We’re the leaders of the league and of our Champions League group. The Clásico is a different kind of match and even more so this year because the title has been between the two teams over the last couple of seasons. It can mark a turning point in the season. If we win, we’ll be six points clear.”
