After a long battle over the summer to regain full fitness, on Monday the midfielder trained under the orders of Tito Vilanova for the first time this season
The squad recovered from the game against Osasuna as the focus switches back to the Supercup and Wednesday’s return leg at the Bernabéu
The players were joined by Barça B’s Masip and Tello
Not many hours after the hard-fought win in Pamplona thanks to two late goals from Messi (1-2), the Barça first team got straight back to work on Monday as preparations begin for the second leg of the Spanish Supercup on Wednesday at the Bernabéu. For the first time since returning after the summer, Thiago did part of the session with his team mates.
Recovery for starters
As usual on the day after matches, the players that started against Osasuna did gentle exercises in order to recover from the previous day’s exertions. Sergio Busquets, Andrés Iniesta and Gerard Piqué all stayed in the gym to do specific training, while the first team was joined by Masip and Tello of Barça B.
But the best news from the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper was that Thiago Alcántara, for the first time this season, was able to take part in some of Tito Vilanova’s session along with the rest of the team.
The midfielder has spent the summer suffering from a tibia injury after taking a knock in the Copa del Rey Final against Athletic Bilbao. The injury meant he was unable to appear at the Olympic Games, but it looks like the long road to recovery is finally over.
