Spartak-FCB a guarantee of goals

The three games between Spartak Moscow and Barça all featured plenty of goals and excitement, with an average of five goals a game. The first meeting between the two in the group stages earlier this season saw Barça win 3-2 with goals from Tello and Messi (2), whilst Alves scored an own goal and Romulo got the second for the Russians.

The first time that the two came together though, was in the Champions League group stages in the 1993/94 season, when they drew 2-2 in Moscow – goals from Stoichkov and Romario – and there was then a thrilling 5-1 win for Barça. Karpin scored first for the visitors, before Stoichkov, Amor, Koeman (2) and Romário won it for the hosts.
