Barça’s Catalan midfielder reckons the team: “are in good form for the Madrid game, though you never know if it’s a good time to play them or not”.

Busquets insisted that Messi: “doesn’t need any special motivation. Every day he works hard to get better and that’s why he’s the best player in the world”.

Sergio Busquets doesn’t believe that Wednesday’s first leg of the Spanish Cup semi-finals will decide the tie. “it will all be decided at the Camp Nou, I don’t think we’ll finish them off at the Santiago Bernabeu”, but insisted: “we need to focus on what we want out of the game, not on the players they’ll be missing”.

Busquets also reckons: “a good result would be a win, not a draw. It’ll be a close game and I don’t think a bad result would sink either team, because there’s a way to go before the second leg”.

Xavi, Puyol and Valdés, an example to follow

Asked by a reporter at this morning’s press conference if he would spend all his career at the Club, Busquets replied: “I’m just concerned about here and now, and I’m very happy at Barça. Puyol, Xavi and Víctor Valdés are examples for me. Xavi is really important for the way we play and a model in all aspects. He’ll be renewing his contract this Monday and we all hope he’ll be with us for many more years”.

Busquets also took the time to thank the fans for their support: “last year against Chelsea we gave all we could and the fans showed that they knew that. If we know they are behind the team, it’s all a lot easier for us”. On the same subject, Busquets expressed his satisfaction at the reception the Camp Nou gave Victor Valdes on Sunday night: “they gave Victor the reception he deserved after he has done so much for us”.

Finally, Busquets referred to Leo Messi, claiming: “I don’t think he needs any special motivation. That’s the way he is and he wants to improve everyday, and he does! That’s why he’s the best in the world and really makes such a great difference”.
