The Ukrainian and Turkish teams joined the Portuguese, English and Italian sides this evening as possible teams that Barça could face in the next round of the Champions League
The draw will take place on December 20; the round of 16 away leg will be played on February 12 and 13, and the return leg will be on the 18th and 19th
Valencia, Madrid and Celtic, cannot face Barça in the next round
Barça know that their rival in the Champions League round of 16 could be Shakhtar, Galatasaray, Porto, Arsenal, or Milan. Real Madrid, Valencia and Celtic also finished second in their respective groups, but they cannot face the Blaugrana because the first two are Spanish teams and the third featured in the same group as Barça.
The away leg of the round of 16 will be on February 12/13 and the return leg will be on the 18th or 19th of the same month. Barça will play the first leg away from the Camp Nou and the return leg at home.
Ukrainians and Turks, the latests possible rivals
Despite falling 0-1 to Juventus, Shakhtar qualified for the next round with 10 points - level with Chelsea - but with a better goal average. Galatasaray are in a similar situation: they defeated Sporting Braga and they finished second with 10 points, level with Cluj, but the Turks have the goal average advantage.
The last time Barça faced the Ukrainians wasn’t too long ago: the Blaugrana defeated them in the quarter-finals of the 2010/11 Champions League. The Turkish side, on the other hand, haven’t played against Barça in over a decade.
The other three
Porto, Group A’s second place team with 13 points, have a score to settle with the FC Barcelona. They lost the European Super Cup in 2011 by 2-0 to Pep Guardiola’s Barça.
The last time Arsenal faced Barça was in the last 16 playoff of the 2010/11 season. Barça won at the Camp Nou by 3-1.
Milan, on the other hand, played against Barça in the Champions League last season, when the Blaugrana faced the Rossoneri in the quarter-finals, after being paired together in the group stage.
