On Monday at midday, José Manuel Pinto extended his contract with FC Barcelona until June 30, 2014 at an event attended by himself, his agent, president Sandro Rosell and vice president for sport Josep Maria Bartomeu.
A child’s passion
It was announced back on December 23 that Pinto, who joined the club in 2008, would be adding another year to a contract that was due to expire this summer. “In the end, work and hope have brought results” he said to Barça TV and www.fbarcelona.cat. “I am loyal to the idea that you have to chase your dreams … My hopes are still intact, I’m like a little kid. I may be 37, but it feels like I’m just 18”.
Pinto could not be happier. “I feel fortunate to have been able to make history with this marvellous team. Enjoying all this is a great reward” he said. Asked how much longer he can see himself continuing in the game, he joked that “I don’t want to end up like Puyol. I want to retire before I’m 50!” On a more serious note, he concluded that “that all depends on how I feel. The day I stop believing is the day that, for honour and dignity, I’ll stop”.
