The Catalan defender may have torn the ACL in his right knee. The extent of the injury will be confirmed this Wednesday
Marc Muniesa has possibly torn the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee, according to the Club’s Medical Services after the match against Hamburg SV. The Catalan defender will undergo further tests on Wednesday to determine the extent of his injury.
The Barça defender, in his first pre-season as a first-team player, picked up the injury on the seventh minute of the second half.
Not the first serious knee injury
This isn’t the first time that Muniesa has seriously injured his knee. Shortly after turing 16, he suffered a similar injury to his left knee. On that occasion, he tore both his interior, exterior and anterior knee ligaments and he was out of action for 10 months. Shortly after recovering he had his reward: on May 23, 2009, after Guardiola’s team had secured its first Liga title, Muniesa made his debut in Primera, at the Camp Nou, against Osasuna.
