It’s official! This Thursday lunchtime, Marc-André ter Stegen put pen to paper to sign a contract with FC Barcelona for the next five seasons. The now former Borussia Mönchengladbach keeper, born April 30, 1992, arrived just after noon at El Prat Airport, from where he was transferred directly to the Camp Nou.
His first duty was to go the presidential box to sign his new contract. He and his family were joined by FC Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu, vice president for sport Jordi Mestre and director of sport Andoni Zubizarreta. In his first few hours as a Barça player, he was shown around the club offices in preparation for his official presentation to the media.
The contract binds Marc-André ter Stegen to FC Barcelona until the 2018/19 season. It also establishes that his buyout clause will be set at 80 million euros. The transfer fee was 12 million euros.
