The Barça coach is proud of his side’s performance against Athletic in Camp Nou which earns them a ticket to their sixth semi-final in a row in the competition
Luis Enrique’s praise for his own team's performance also extended to their rivals who caused the blaugranes more than a scare when they took an early lead in the game thanks to Iñaki Williams’ 12th minute opener.
“It’s worthy of praise what both sides have done,” said the coach before adding that the game had been “very demanding” with two distinct halves.
He continued: “I don’t know why that happens. But since the draw we knew that Athletic would make our lives difficult. They ask a lot of you and in the first half they have stopped us playing our game.
“It was a very passionate game, both sides can take pride in it and we were faithful to our style of play.
“We put in an excellent second half, spurred on by the crowd and we found answers when the game was at its most difficult.
“Athletic have been true to their style but we have won the three games and that is very difficult.”
