Tito Vilanova's assistant coach says that the attitude displayed by the players was exemplary and that "it was a difficult tie for us"
“We celebrated our victory with a lot of joy because we were very aware of how difficult this match was going to be,” said Jordi Roura in the post-match press conference at La Rosaleda. “It was a very difficult tie for us. We had to come here to win. I think overall we deserved to go through to the next round,” he added.
Roura went on to highlight the team’s attitude: “Once again, these players proved what they are made of. They gave a footballing lesson, and they’ve given quite a few! Frankly, the whole team played well.”
Messi, subbed out as a precaution
“We brought Messi off the as a preventative measure. The adductor in his right leg was giving him problems. It’s nothing serious,” said Roura, who declined to talk about the exciting showdown with Real Madrid in the next round of the Cup. “We have a very important game against Osasuna on Sunday and I prefer to not talk about Real Madrid.”
The manager also said that these victories are “helpful for Vilanova and Abidal.” Lastly, on the state of the pitch, Roura declared that “the pitch was in bad condition. It was difficult to play. I think it affected both teams.”
