June 24th is Leo Messi’s birthday and this Sunday he will be 25, but despite his relative youth, he is already recognised as one of the greats of the game. On an individual level, he has won three Ballons d'Or on the run and with Barça he’s taken three Champions Leagues, five Spanish League titles, two Spanish Cups ad two World Club Cups, amongst others.
Fans can send their best wishes to Leo on a special place reserved on the Club’s Facebook page as well as on Twitter with the hash tag #Messi25.
After a number of games with Argentina, Leo Messi is now on holiday, which he has used to take part in a charity match in Bogota.
The world’s top player has had an amazing season at the Club, having beaten records left, right and centre with 73 official goals. His 50 League goals earned him his second Pichichi and his second GoldenShoe, as well as coming in as the Champions League leading scorer for the fourth year on the run.
After picking up his third Ballon d’Or he marked the most special of records, beating Cesar’s record as the all-time Barça leading scorer in official games.
The Spanish Cup win at the Calderón was his fourth title of the season with Barça, following on from the Spanish and European Super Cups and the World Club Cup. Messi scored in all six competitions, equalling the record set two years ago by Pedro.
