The Argentinian came on as a substitute with his team losing 1-0, but scored twice to turn the game around
February 1 marks the anniversary of the 5,000th FC Barcelona league goal. The scorer was Leo Messi at El Sardinero, who scored both goals in a 2-1 win against Racing Santander. It was the second that completed the comeback in a game FCB had started losing, and which signified the historic landmark.
The Argentinian thus followed on from Marcos Aurelio, Zaballa, Quini and Amor, who had scored the other ‘thousandth’ goals in Barça league history.
As Barça go into Saturday’s game against Valencia at the Camp Nou, the tally has since risen to 5,519 league goals.
