Tito Vilanova will make his debut as Barça head coach in Germany
Barça have been invited to play in the Bundesliga club’s 125th anniversary match
FC Barcelona will play Hamburg SV on occasion of the German outfit’s 125th anniversary at 18.00 on July 24, 2014. It will be the first Barça game of the 2012/13 preseason, and therefore also the first for Tito Vilanova in charge of the first team.
The venue will be the Imtech Arena, a FIFA 5-star stadium, built in 2001 with the capacity for 57,000 spectators and one of the venues used at the 2006 World Cup.
Hamburg SV is one of the most historic clubs in the country, founded way back in 1887 and winner of seven Bundesliga titles and the European Cup, won in 1983. In 2011/12, they finished 15th in the Bundesliga with 8 wins, 12 draws and 14 draws. Their top scorer was Croatian international Mladen Petric, with seven goals.
First preseason match
FC Barcelona will be taking the best squad they can at that time for the first of a series of preseason commitments. Further friendlies will be announced over the next few days.
