The French full back has been named player of the season by a jury formed by the likes of President Rosell and representatives of some of the major Catalan media organisations
Éric Abidal has won the third edition of the Aldo Rovira Award for the best Barça player of the season. The award goes to the Frenchman as a gesture in recognition of his tremendous efforts and dedication to the club’s values after he underwent a liver transplant on April 10.
The jury was led by President Sandro Rosell, who was joined by Andreu Subies, president of the Catalan Football Federation; Josep Lluís Rovira, ex Barça director and the father of Aldo Rovira (passed away in 2009), all with a voice but no vote, and representatives of the Catalan media.
Abidal thus takes over from Leo Messi, the winner of the last two editions of the Aldo Rovira Award.
