The French star, who is recovering from a liver transplant received almost four months ago, thinks he’ll be able to play again before the year is out
The Barça player travelled with the squad to Paris for the game with PSG and took the honorary kickoff
Éric Abidal said on Saturday night after the game between FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, that he hopes to be playing again before the end of the year. Speaking to TV3, the Frenchman said “I have started working out in the gym and it feels good. I’m on the right track and let’s see if I’ll be able to play again before December”. It’s good news for Abidal, who nevertheless admits that when he returns is not as important as his major objective, which is simply returning.
On Saturday, he was at the Parc des Princes with Tito Vilanova’s team for the third friendly of the preseason, and was invited to take the honorary kickoff. Delighted to be able to travel with the rest of the squad, he said afterwards that “I’m better than I was three months ago. I’m following the guidelines set by the doctors, and the truth is I’m feeling great. I can travel, enjoy football, the team and the atmosphere.” Abidal received a liver transplant on April 10 of this year.
